In 2018 Lutheran Aged Care and Albury Public School joined for a Singing with the Elders. Following this BNG was approached by Kerrie Warburton from Lutheran Aged Care to help crate a mural in a lifeless corridor. The residents had requested a beach or seaside theme. Lutheran Aged Care applied to Albury City Council for a Community Cultural Grant and was successful.
BNG approached Albury High School and Nadia Dosenko-West took on the project with a year 9 Visual Arts class.
The students created 8 large boards with a general seascape and 30 small boards which the residents could help paint. The residents suggested things from their childhood memories such as Seagulls, kites, beach balls, life buoys, fish and chip shops, boats and shells. The students researched and drew up a number of boards and the residents assisted in the painting. The students travelled to the Aged Care facility 5 times in 2019 to work with the residents. Further work was conducted back at school.
In February 2020 the mural was unveiled. A wonderful project.
